Bagua-Hsing YI Training

Just returned from a two-day seminar on Baguazhang and Xingyiquan in Concord, N.C., under Sifu Paul Cote and one of his senior students, Martin Elvidge, at Sidekick Karate of Concord. Tip of the hat to the dojo’s leader, sensei Christopher Alexander, for hosting the seminar. We worked on a number of techniques during the Saturday afternoon and evening sessions as well as Sunday’s four-hour session, including circle walking, palm changes and straight line Bagua techniques along with five-element fists in Xingyi and some self-defense from both of the Chinese internal arts. We are hoping to get Sifu Cote and Elvidge down to our dojo for a seminar in the next year. Will advise if that happens.

Also, we are working on holding our second Seitei Jodo seminar in June. This one will be a two-day weekend seminar. Should have this finalized in the next week or so. Will update when that happens. As with our previous seminar, Yondan Adam Sandor out of Atlanta will lead it, with assistance from nidan Andy Wells, who lives in Columbia and has been working with some of our students at the Midlands School of Martial Arts on the system’s kihons and kata.
