I can’t believe it’s been 12 years (as of Friday, Dec. 10) that my teacher, Hanshi Ridgely Abele, passed away. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him, and his teachings live on in all his students. There was no one quite like him – in or out of the dojo. He was, in all senses of the word, a sensei who none of us who trained with him will ever forget. We paid tribute to him today, Saturday, Dec. 11, before training at our dojo.
Today, we had two of our three new white belts training. We started Tai Kyoku along with working with our Isshi Sashi and Chiishi before transitioning to Kobudo, where we worked with the bo for an hour or so. It was good training, and our new guys are picking it up great.
See you at the dojo.
