Latest from the dojo

Sorry there was no post last weekend. I was out of town last week at a three-day seminar – the annual Shuri-te Bujitsu-kai Martial Arts International Conference, which was again in Fort Mill. As always, it was a great event, with many classes for students (and aren’t we all students?) of all ranks and interests. If you haven’t been, you need to pencil it in as a must-attend event.

Our own Rick White, who teaches Friday nights and Saturday at 11 our dojo, had, at least by my accounting, the largest number of students taking his classes. Glad he’s with us.

I was back in our dojo this past week, and we are now working for the omote (public) bunkai of our kata, with a spattering of other interpretations along the way for our half-dozen or so students. There was plenty of sweat & questions, and a few mistakes (including by yours truly).

Along with that, we were working one of intermediate bo forms, knocking off the rust for a couple of our students. It was a great week in the dojo.
