Another good Saturday workout. Spent most of the morning working on nunchaku, focusing first on Tai Kyoku and then Wansu kata per our weapons theory applications as designed by Grand Master Robert A. Trias. Following that, we worked on O’Naihanchi – after working through each of the Naihanchi kata (ichi, ni, sanZ) separately,
Monday was a big night for the school. Our first test for promotion was held – and Dylan Padgett passed with flying colors, which in his case is a yellow belt (see attached photo). The test began with Shuri-ryu’s standard physical test (mile run, 500 front kicks, 5 minutes punch backfist, 75 overhead strikes with
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Looking forward to what 2022 brings for one and all. Our dojo has taken a few days off for the holidays, but we’ll be back at it Monday (Jan. 3) at 5:30 pm. An update – as of now we have 11 students, ranging from three white belts who are working toward

On Friday met with one of our nidans and brown belts for a 2 1/2-hour workout, working through 1-20 ippons and kihons. And then Saturday

As always, it was a great event, with many classes for students (and aren’t we all students?) of all ranks and interests.
